Words And Music Dean Madonia
At the Hard Rock Miami.

"This was the BIG show at the Hard Rock in Miami - Friday, April 16th 1999. Val Lupescu had just taken over guitar duties from Jimmy Ruccolo, but the band was well-rehearsed, and we had played a lot of shows in South Florida. We brought two busloads of drunk people from Fort Lauderdale to irritate the locals and the Miami touristas. My attorney Andy Peretz arranged a 3 camera video shoot from
Nightline Productions, and I had come in early and set up some ADATs for 24 track recording. I promoted the heck out of this show and we got a lot of press. The only thing I forgot to do was practice the songs and warm up!

The Dean Madonia Band was:

Dean Madonia - Vocals, guitar

Val (Evans) Lupescu -guitar

Cory Mauro - bass

Mike Waxman - keyboards

Scott Tryon - drums

The "Livid Strings" were:

Debbie Spring - viola

Barbara Corcillo - cello

Bruce Wethey - violin

"The War Came Home To Me"
(Dean Madonia)

I was a child in '72 and my sitter Mrs. Plews
Made me watch the evening news
Force-fed me her Christian views
Her son returning from the war spoke to me in metaphors
Pulled down my pants and tried to score
I left the room and I closed that door

Shells rang out like thunder but only in my head
Hiding in my foxhole safe among the dead
Looking back I clearly see the consequence of victory

I was too young to go overseas, so the war came home to me
I was too young to go overseas, so the war came home to me

My father was in world war two
The training left him black and blue
But he found something he could do
While choking on his world-view
He had a mastoid in his ear
It made it hard for him to hear
The sickness filled him up with fear
I watched him slowly dissapear

Shells rang out like thunder but only in my head
Hiding in my foxhole safe among the dead
Looking back I clearly see the consequence of victory

I was too young to go overseas, so the war came home to me
I was too young to go overseas, so the war came home to me
