Performing on the Fort Lauderdale strip for so many years, I cam e to despise the tourists. One day I had an epiphany. They were just folks just like me on vacation trying to have a good time. They didn't mean anyone any harm They were my meal-ticket! I wrote this for them. It is supposed to be like Eddie Money's "Two Tickets To Paradise,"
Back To The Ocean
The grass is green, my car is clean
Looks like the cover of a magazine
Let’s load her up, take a drive
And find someplace to feel alive
We’ve got nothing to do, nowhere we need to be
Girl it’s been a long time since any of our time was free
So come with me
Let’s go back to the ocean
We’ll run on the sand
Having no plan is better
Than anything we might have planned
We’ll re-visit the places
We thought we’d outgrown
And throw back to the ocean
Hearts like skipping stones
You show your teeth, you never smile
Just let your guard down for awhile
Come with me, stay the night
You’re still too young to be uptight
We’ve got nothing to do, nowhere we need to be
Girl it’s been a long time since any of our time was free
So come with me
Let’s go back to the ocean
We’ll run on the sand
Having no plan is better
Than anything we might have planned
We’ll re-visit the places
We thought we’d outgrown
And throw back to the ocean
Hearts like skipping stones
You and I have been working too hard and too long in this town Let’s turn off the phone, turn up the radio and put the top down
Let’s go back to the ocean
We’ll run on the sand
Having no plan is better
Than anything we might have planned
We’ll re-visit the places
We thought we’d outgrown
And throw back to the ocean
Hearts like skipping stones
